2017 Oscar Shorts poster 11X20 with DOCS

Feb 9-March 4     Single Tickets $8-$9.50     Oscar Festival Passes $12-$14     Where Are Films Shown?     Where Can I Park?

Beginning Feb 9th, for four consecutive weekends, we are screening the 15 Oscar nominees for Best Short Film, showcasing the year’s most anticipated short films across Live Action, Animation, and Documentary categories. Many Hollywood movies are impersonal — they have unimaginable budgets and nothing creative at stake, This year’s assortment of short Oscar contenders is a celebration of intimate, personal storytelling. Each filmmaker leaves his or her fingerprints on the material, making it a rich collection of stories, all of which have something profound to say, whether big and bold or small and modest.

Meet the nominees! Read short, snappy descriptions of the Animation films, the Live-Action films and the Documentaries

Each individual program is $8 but for $12 you can buy an Oscar Pass admitting you to all three (on different nights, on different weekends). Please note: the Oscar Pass is not the same as a BCT pass (see below). It can be used for all screenings on campus and at Bear’s Place. It cannot be used at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater.  Admission is free for children 6 and under.

♦ On Sunday, Feb 25th, the Live Action and Animation programs will be screened at the Buskirk Chumley Theater. The Animation films will start at 2pm. The Live Action films will begin at 3:45. Tickets for the screenings at the BCT can be purchased in advance at the BCT box office or online. One program would be $8, a BCT Pass for both would be $12. Tickets day of show would be $9.50 and $14.00 respectively. Please note: a BCT Pass can be used on campus and at Bear’s Place. So for example, if you buy a pass at the BCT and want to see one or two of the programs the following weekend on campus, bring your BCT ticket and admission will be free. Admission is free for children 6 and under.

We’re also screening two feature length films at the BCT on Feb 25th: Jane (the much-beloved non-fiction film about Jane Goodall) at 6pm and Loving Vincent (about Vincent van Gogh, nominated for Best Feature-Length Animated film) at 8pm. There are separate admissions for each movie ($8 in advance; $9.50 day of show) however that BCT pass that we told you about in the last paragraph admits you to these two films as well. So, if you want to spend the day at the Buskirk, for $12 you can see the Animation Shorts, the Live-Action Shorts, Jane and Loving Vincent. Finally, spend a few minutes in the lobby of the BCT and check out the amazing exhibit by Danielle Urschel.

See the films that critics are raving about and predict the winners before the Academy Awards on March 4th. At the screenings you can vote for your favorite film (or the film that you think will win the Oscar) – pick the eventual winner and  you will win a complimentary ticket to another Ryder film and be entered into a contest for Dinner for Two at one of our fine local restaurants.
