IU Fine Arts Theater – north side of Showalter Fountain 1201 E 7th Street, Bloomington

Dominique Benicheti’s Cousin Jules enjoyed acclaim at festivals after its completion in 1973 but never got distribution, even in its home country of France. Nearly lost to the annals of cinema, the film was rescued after the director’s 2011 death.

Tom Selznick (Elijah Wood), the most talented pianist of his generation, stopped performing in public because of his stage fright. Years after a catastrophic performance, he reappears in public in a long-awaited concert in Chicago. In a packed theater, in front of the expectant audience, Tom finds a message written on the score: “Play one wrong note and you die.”
